Manchester City v Everton
Craig Bellamy is likely to start for Manchester City. It’s too cold for Robinho, Roque Santa Cruz is on his way back from injury but not at full fitness and Emmanuel Adebayor of course isn’t an option for the moment (and no, I don’t give a shit what shirt he was wearing, he’s seen two friends die, would you think about what you were wearing if you were in his position?).
Manchester United v Burnley
Ryan Giggs could be rested as Man Utd will probably think this is an easy one. Of course, they probably thought the away game would be easy too and they were wrong about that.
Stoke City v Liverpool
Danny Collins could be in the bench again for Stoke but I expect his team-mate Ryan Shawcross to play. I expect him to be on the winning side too.
Tottenham Hotspur v Hull City
Gareth Bale is almost certain to start as he’s the only fit left back in the squad – and this is true however you’d like to interpret the word ‘fit’. Boaz Myhill will probably be in goal for Hull.
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Wigan Athletic
The news on hamstrung Dave Edwards varies – either he’s back in training and should be back soon or he’s out for another two months. But it depends on your definition of ‘soon’, of course. Wayne Hennessey and Sam Vokes are likely to be on the bench but that doesn’t mean Sam won’t come on as a substitute for Wolves. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen so much with goalkeepers so Wayne will stay on the bench unless Marcus Hahnemann is injured. And I don’t want him to be injured. I don’t want any players to be injured. I do want Wayne to play though.
Jason Koumas could start for Wigan but even if he does, the chances are he won’t be on the pitch for long. Apparently he can leave if suitable offers come in. So get suitable offering. He’s a fantastic player but he’s not right for Wigan.
