Everton 2-0 Manchester City
Marouane Fellaini made two great achievements during this match. First, he showed a sublime piece of skill to take the ball from Craig Bellamy in one graceful/comedy movement. Secondly, he managed not to be murdered by Craig Bellamy. But Craig actually had a pretty good game and came close to an equaliser (obviously the score was still 1-0 then).
Manchester United 3-0 Burnley
Ryan Giggs wasn’t even on the bench as Manchester United took stylish revenge on Burnley for beating them 1-0 near the start of the season.
Stoke City 1-1 Liverpool
Danny Collins was again on the bench but Stoke’s captain Ryan Shawcross was probably their best player. Stoke lost two key players early on and did well to fight back for a late equaliser.
Tottenham Hotspur 0-0 Hull City
Boaz Myhill was in world-class form for Hull (I told you he was good) and kept out every shot, including one from Gareth. His double-saves were particularly outstanding and several awed Tottenham supporters suggested Bo should play for England. Small problem: HE’S WELSH. And you don’t know how happy I am about that.
But at least you can’t criticise Gareth Bale’s defending this time. He didn’t let in a single goal and he is actually on a five-match unbeaten run (or a four matches unbeaten in the Premier League). And his last two defeats were against Arsenal and Manchester United. Tottenham aren't all that far behind Arsenal and Manchester United this season but there's nothing wrong with losing to your near-equals occasionally.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-2 Wigan Athletic
Wayne Hennessey and Sam Vokes stayed on the bench as Wolves lost again but at least they got into the squad. Swansea are considering making a move for Sam but Mick McCarthy says no way. Dave Edwards is still injured of course.
Wigan’s Jason Koumas wasn’t in the squad at all. I hope this means Jason’s found a nice new team where people appreciate him.
