Loans
Sanchez Watt has returned to Arsenal after his loan spell with Southend United came to an end. Sanchez went out on loan in an effort to build up his match fitness and impressed in League one but although Southend wanted to keep him, Sanchez wanted to try to fight his way into Arsenal’s first team. Well they are short of strikers…
Daniel Nardiello has signed for Oldham Athletic on loan. The Blackpool striker had a successful loan spell at Bury earlier this season, scoring a number of goals and having one famously stopped by a bit of mud. He then returned to Blackpool and made a few substitute appearances but injuries kept getting in his way. But this probably means he’s recovered from his groin injury.
Daniel might play alongside Jason Price, another Welsh loanee striker who is expected to extend his loan deal this week, if parent club Millwall agree.
Oldham want Daniel to save them from relegation. No pressure then.
Shaun MacDonald is waiting to hear from Swansea whether they want him to extend his contract. He’s really enjoyed his loans to Yeovil but he wants to settle at a club permanently. Although he thinks he’s ready to play in the Championship he’s hinted he would be very happy to stay at Yeovil. Swansea are having problems in midfield at the moment but they can’t recall Shaun due to the terms of his loan.
Owain Tudur Jones has returned to Norwich City after his Yeovil loan came to an end. He’s played in the reserves and done well so a first-team call up apparently isn’t out of the question. If he does play, he’ll be up against Yeovil.
Christian Ribeiro’s loan spell at Colchester United has come to an end. He only played twice due to injury but Colchester manager Aidy Boothroyd was impressed and wants him to return to the club once he’s fully fit again. Christian has also said he expects to return.
Other
Wolves’ David Jones says Ryan Giggs tried to persuade him to play for Wales but David chose England instead. He has a Welsh parent but considers himself English. David has however only played for England’s under-21s so he could still change his mind and play for Wales.
Glyn Garner, who was released by Shrewsbury in January, has joined Grays Athletic in the Blue Square Premier. Grays are struggling but Glyn’s debut was a big success. It was only a draw and Grays are still 13 points adrift of safety – they’ll be bottom if Chester don’t appeal against the decision to remove them from the league - but the general feeling is they’ve got a chance.
