FA Cup Third Round Results 2nd January Part 1

Aston Villa 3-1 Blackburn Rovers
James Collins got his first start for Aston Villa for some time as Aston Villa won 3-1. It would have been brilliant if only Blackburn hadn’t had Jason Brown in goal although he did make some good saves and you can’t blame him for not saving the penalty, we can’t all be Thomas Sorensen or Brad Guzan James nearly scored but Carlos Cuellar got his head in the way so he scored instead.

Blackpool 1-2 Ipswich Town
Blackpool have more Welsh players than Cardiff so it was a shame they found themselves on the losing side. Neal Eardley and David Vaughan both started the match but David was replaced on 61 minutes by Rob Edwards, who lost no time in getting himself sent off (it was a bit harsh though). Daniel Nardiello stayed on the bench, perhaps thinking that it was so much easier when he was at Bury.

Bolton 4-0 Lincoln City
It should have been a great day for Sam Ricketts but not only did Gary Megson leave him on the bench, caretaker Chris Evans decided not to pick him either. Well what do you expect from someone called Chris Evans? Lincoln as expected were without the injured Anthony Pulis.
